Annual Trophy
An 18 hole Medal competition played off the white tees using full Hogs handicaps. It is played on the first Tuesday in September.
To be eligible for this competition, members must have played in 5 qualifying competitions in the previous 12 months. The list for entries will be posted in the usual manner. The tee-time draw, in handicap order, will be made on the Thursday prior to the competition. Late entries will not be accepted. Low Handicappers, in groups of 3, will tee off first.
Members may personally change their tee-time in accordance with Rule 3 of the Objectives & Rules. In the event of a tie for first place the result will be decided by a sudden death play-off on the day of the competition. Strokes to be taken as per handicap.

Captain's Charity
Each year the newly elected Hogs Captain chooses a charity which will be supported by the Hogs during his year of office. A donation to a representative of the charity is usually made at the AGM. The last Tuesday of October is set aside for a Captain's Charity fund raising event, which is usually something a little different.
This year, the Captain's Charity is to support Didcot Volunteers Centre, your local community transport scheme.
Volunteer drivers will drive you to and from your medical and other appointments in their own vehicles.

Denis Copsey 2's Cup
The Denis Copsey 2's Cup is awarded to the member scoring the most gross 2’s in the Qualifying Competitions.
A tie will be decided by playing 2 balls on all the par 3 holes.
A 2 will decide the winner or the best score over the 4 holes.

Eclectic Spoon
Played over all the Qualifying Competitions during the season. Each player receives the lowest aggregate gross score on each hole for each qualifying competition played, less ½ their playing handicap following the last competition.
Count-back will differentiate equal scores.
The trophy is not a culinary wooden spoon but an early 3-wood

Gerald Janes Claret Jug
This is an 18 hole Medal competition played on the Par-3 course on the second Tuesday in October using ¾ Hogs handicap.
Groups of members will play off each tee (a shotgun start) playing the course 3 times.

John Friend Cup
Known as the ‘Winter Pairs’ this is an 18 hole pairs Matchplay competition played over the Winter between October and March off the yellow tees using ¾ handicap difference. Members must have played in five qualifying competitions in the previous twelve months to qualify. The entrant pairs are divided into 4 groups where they play the other pairs in their group with the first and second place pairs proceeding to the knockout stages.
Group A winners play the second placed pair of Group B (Match 1)
Group B winners play the second placed pair of Group C (Match 2)
Group C winners play the second placed pair of Group D (Match 3)
Group D winners play the second placed pair of Group A (Match 4)
In the next round the winners of Match 1 play the winners of Match 2 and the winners of Match 3 play the winners of Match 4.The winning pairs from these matches contest the FINAL. In the event of a tie in any of the matches the winners will be decided by a sudden death play-off. The final is to be played before the end of March. The Committee will decide the final date for the completion of each section.

John Wesson Trophy
A 9 hole knockout Winter Stableford competition played off the yellow tees using full Hogs handicaps. It is played between November 1st and March 31st.
A draw determines the playing order of each round and the first named person will arrange the match. In case of difficulty the first named will give his opponent 3 dates, one of which must be a Tuesday. The match will be played on either the front nine or back nine holes. Lack of agreement will be decided by the toss of a coin.
If the scores are tied after 9 holes the winner will be decided thus:-
1. If both players have ODD or EVEN handicaps, play will continue on the same nine holes until a winner is decided.
2. If one player’s handicap is EVEN and the other’s is ODD, THEN, if play is on the front nine then the player with the EVEN handicap wins, if play is on the back nine the player with the ODD handicap wins.

Ken Hounslow Cup
A Division 1 v Division 2 Four Ball Better Ball match using ¾ Hogs handicap difference off the yellow tees using a multi-tee start.
The highest handicap player of each division taking part will choose the pairings with a draw to decide playing order.
Any odd players will play singles with full handicap difference.

Mike Sumner Cup
An 18 hole Stableford competition played off the white tees using full Hogs handicaps and played at the end of May.
To be eligible for this competition, members must have played in 5 qualifying competitions in the previous 12 months.

A 9 hole Matchplay knockout competition for members over 70 years of age on October 1st in the year of the competition. It is played between October and March using full Hogs handicaps with all shots taken at the appropriate holes.

President's Cup
An 18 hole Team Stableford Competition played off the yellow tees using full HOGS handicap played on a convenient Tuesday at the end of March or early April.
The number of teams will be in proportion to the number of members playing with no more than 6 per team. The Captains of those teams will be the surviving Founding Members plus the Senior Past Captains who are prepared to Captain a Team.
Teams will be chosen by the team Captains from members wishing to play. The team members do not have to play together. The Total Stableford scores of all the members of the team will be added together and the average taken. The Team with the highest average will be declared winners

Stan Dray Scratch Cup
This is a Matchplay knockout competition played off the yellow tees to scratch. It is played between April 1st and September 30th including the final.
Each round is to be played by a date stipulated by the Competition Secretary / Committee.

Summer Pairs
An 18 hole Greensomes Stableford competition with each player using 9 drives.
The first round matches are drawn at the Christmas Lunch and are played on the first Tuesday in May.
The winning teams will be drawn to play a further round (W1 v W2 etc) as will the losing teams (L1 v L2 etc).
The remaining winning teams will then play a semi-final and final.
Pairs unable to play on the given date may play earlier and submit their cards by the given date.
Greensomes Stableford: Players go out in fours, two teams of pairs. All four players drive on each hole. The players of each partnership choose the better of their two drives and finish the hole with that ball, playing alternate shots. The player whose drive was not taken plays the second shot.
Teams receive 6/10 of the lower handicap player plus 4/10 of the higher handicap player.

Ted LaForte Shield
A Matchplay knockout competition with repechage played off the yellow tees using full Hogs handicap. It is played from March through to September. The first round will be decided by a draw and it may be necessary to have byes in this round.
The first player in the pair is responsible for arranging the match. Each round will be played by a date designated by the Competition Secretary / Committee. Any match not completed by the stipulated date will be forfeited to the player nominated by the Committee after due consideration. The final is to be played by the end of September.
Each game is played to a finish, i.e. sudden death after 18 holes. In the event of the Hogs disbanding the future of the Trophy will be decided by the donator. To determine the final placings:-
1st & 2nd places - Winner of the Winners v Winner of the Losers.
3rd & 4th places - The Loser of the Winners v Loser of the Losers.

Ted Tickler Trophy
This is an ‘Order of Merit’ competition where members receive points on a sliding scale using the best 10 of 16 results from the Qualifying Competitions held between March and October.
Points are scored according to overall position:-
1st - 12pts, 2nd - 10 pts, 3rd - 8 pts, 4th - 7 pts, 5th - 6pts, 6th - 5 pts, 7th - 4 pts, 8th - 3 pts, 9th - 2 pts, 10th - 1pt.
